About The Position

This position is for an Instructional Assistant in Special Education SOAR. The role involves supporting teachers in instructional activities, reinforcing learning for individuals or small groups, and assisting with lesson preparation. The position requires regular on-time attendance and may involve providing substitute coverage. The role is for a 10-month term and is classified as NON-EXEMPT.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• 48 college credits or passing scores for the ParaPro required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school/ middle school aged children.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and communications.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the literacy teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in making preparations for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
