The Special Education Instructional Assistant works in the SOAR program, a regionalized program for students with autism who need specialized instruction to access curriculum and develop skills that support independence. SOAR promotes self-advocacy, flexibility, and generalization, serving students from kindergarten through high school and using evidence-based practices to support academic, communication, social, adaptive, and behavioral development. This is a 10-month, non-exempt position. The assistant supports the teacher with instruction, lesson preparation, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment; works with individuals or small groups to reinforce instruction; and may provide substitute coverage or perform other related duties as assigned by the principal. The assignment may involve toileting, depending on the program area.
