About The Position

This is a 10-month, Exempt position with a salary scale of AFSCME, UA3 Grade 3-7. The Instructional Assistant will work in an instructional support role with high school/middle school aged children, assisting the teacher in planning and implementing instructional activities, and providing reinforcement to individuals or small groups. The role requires regular on-time attendance and the ability to provide substitute coverage as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school/ middle school aged children.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and communications.
• Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the literacy teacher delivers the instruction.
• Assists the teacher in preparing for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
