About The Position

Instructional Assistant IIIs support students with severe/emotionally disturbed needs. This role involves working with students who have learning handicaps or communicative handicaps, or those designated as emotionally disturbed, on the autism spectrum, or requiring assistance from a behaviorist. The position requires experience working with groups of children and is highly desirable for those with experience working with impaired children or adults, and coursework in child development.

Requirements

Attach one documentation [A, B, C, or D item] from the following list: [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam - testing date must be April 2005 to current. No other school districts proficiency exam accepted. OR [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) OR [C] OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) OR [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
If your degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, YOU MUST have coursework evaluated for its equivalency to a degree/transcripts received from an accredited United States college or university.
Experience that is relevant to this position.
Provide required documentation.
Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (in some programs).

Nice To Haves

Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
Coursework in child development highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Support students with severe/emotionally disturbed needs.
Work with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
