About The Position

The Instructional Assistant I (IA I) position at Del Paso Manor School is a part-time role within the Support Staff & Services category, specifically in Instructional Support. This position is permanent and involves working 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The role is for a high-needs school and is part of the CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule. The work year is approximately 9 months, consisting of 206 days per year.

Requirements

  • List on application experience that is relevant to this position.
  • Previous experience working with groups of children.
  • Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
  • Applications submitted without the required test results will not be considered.
  • An incomplete application, "see resume" in place of listing requested information on application, or an unsigned application will not be considered.
  • For Title I Sites: OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) OR Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
  • If degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited U.S. college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
  • Coursework in child development highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting students in large groups in both Special Day Class settings or General Education.
  • Supporting the teacher's needs.
  • Running small groups.
  • Working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
  • Working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
  • Assisting individual students in an emotionally disturbed (ED) class or an autism class or assigned to a Behaviorist.
