About The Position

The Instructional Assistant I (IA I) position at Del Paso Manor School is a part-time role within the Support Staff & Services category, specifically in Instructional Support. This position is permanent and involves working 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The role is for a high-needs school and is part of the CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule. The work year is approximately 9 months, consisting of 206 days per year.

Requirements

Previous experience working with groups of children.
Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).

For Title I Sites: OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) OR Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).

Responsibilities

Assisting students in large groups in both Special Day Class settings or General Education.
Supporting the teacher's needs.
Running small groups.
Working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
Working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
Assisting individual students in an emotionally disturbed (ED) class or an autism class or assigned to a Behaviorist.
