About The Position

The Instructional Assistant’s principle role is to assist the teacher with the preparation and delivery of instruction primarily to individuals and small groups of students. It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide direct instruction to the students, providing the IA direct guidance. IAs assist with school-wide procedures including supervision of school activities and other duties as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED or HSE)
  • Previous experience working with students.
  • Desire to make a positive difference and be a positive influence in students’ lives.
  • Understanding and experience in an educational setting.
  • Positive employment history and recommendations from a previous supervisor
  • Computer skills necessary

Responsibilities

  • Maintain student and staff confidentiality
  • Comply with standard rules, regulations and procedures assigned by A.E. Coordinator / Building Principal
  • Be part of the total support team for students and staff
  • Be professional when dealing with student, staff and parents
  • Support the teacher and related staff, who provide service for the student
  • Support the educator/teacher’s overall goals and objectives for each individual student
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
  • Communicate concerns to administrator or assigned teacher in a timely and professional manner
  • Be on time and maintain good attendance
  • Attend in services and training as required (9 hours required for 10 hours of work or more per grant)
  • Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
  • Communicate important information to the teacher concerning students
  • Assist with required state documentation, individual training plans and testing
