The Institutional Research Analyst II role involves conducting research activities to support university planning and decision-making. This includes applying social research and statistical analysis methods to areas like student success, faculty compensation, and program review. The analyst will extract, analyze, and report university data to various stakeholders, manage data collection, and communicate research findings through reports and data visualizations. The position requires managing complex projects, meeting deadlines, and handling confidential data with integrity.

Requirements

Master’s degree
Three or more years of related experience
Strong proactive and creative problem solving skills

Ability to understand and analyze quantitative information

Ability to build reports, and interactive charts/graphs using tools such as Tableau (Power BI, or Google Analytics)

Nice To Haves

Doctorate in applied statistics, economics, data science, or other related quantitative field
Experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness office
Familiarity with higher education data, including data structure, content, uses, challenges, and the subsequent reconciliation and reporting of such data
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear and concise reports and visualizations for academic and leadership decision-making support
Demonstrated ability to establish and foster interpersonal relationships across a variety of academic units, administrative offices, and data consumers, and to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholder audiences

Responsibilities

Conducts surveys and research, advising on survey and research design, and information resources.
Prepares and presents institutional data for academic portfolio and program review.
Analyzes institutional data related to student outcomes, including enrollment, retention, graduation, and experience.
Prepares reports and projections to support decisions on student success and institutional impact.
Assists with compiling statutory and accreditor-required reports (e.g., IPEDS, Missouri Department of Higher Education, Higher Learning Commission).
Extracts data from university systems, validating accuracy and consistency for reporting and ad hoc requests.
Creates standardized, reproducible workflows for reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.
Serves on university committees, including data governance committees.
Revises and creates data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI to transform complex datasets into actionable insights.
Performs other duties as assigned.
