About The Position

The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of fiber optic and cable systems across various sites. This position involves interpreting technical blueprints and conducting site surveys to plan and execute precise installations of fiber optic cabling, coaxial cables, and fire alarm systems. The technician will be responsible for splicing fiber optics and installing cable TV infrastructure, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client specifications. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to guarantee system reliability and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the Installation Technician ensures that communication and security systems are installed efficiently and function optimally to support the operational needs of residential, commercial, and industrial clients throughout the United States.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in fiber optics installation and splicing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
  • Basic knowledge of cable TV and fire alarm system installation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
  • Experience with advanced fiber optic testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with local and national electrical and safety codes.
  • Previous experience working in a telecommunications or cable installation environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site surveys to assess installation requirements and identify potential challenges.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and installation manuals to plan cable layouts.
  • Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables and coaxial cables according to industry standards.
  • Set up and configure cable TV and fire alarm systems, ensuring proper integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service reports, and inventory usage.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to coordinate installation schedules and resolve technical issues.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during installation and maintenance activities.
