Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineer or equivalent degree/experience required
  • Three or more years experience in a similar field with truck equipment industry preferred
  • Experience with weldments, sheet metal, hydraulics, lean manufacturing concepts, all preferred
  • Proficient in 3D CAD design; SolidWorks a plus
  • Knowledge of DC power systems and hydraulics a plus
  • Proven mechanical design capabilities with consideration for bending, shear, torsion, and buckling

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop load handling solutions.
  • Manage projects from concept through testing and drive them to completion.
  • Prepare models and detailed drawings using 2D/3D design software for assemblies and parts.
  • Create installation package drawings, hydraulic and/or electrical schematics.
  • Lead design reviews.
  • Provide engineering support to sales, shop and field personnel as required.
  • Work with Service, Installations, Sales and Marketing on new or revised applications.
  • Investigate applications and make design changes when required.
  • Be proactive in listening to customer requirements and needs and work to find the best possible solution for that particular application.
  • Support Service, Installations, Sales and Marketing to resolve customer problems related to the design, installation, maintenance, and operation of the products.
  • Work with Hiab functional areas to resolve customer issues as required with effective communication to all areas.
  • Accurately maintain all engineering design and test documentation. Included are all Sales and Installation Packages, decal drawings, and load charts and other documentation as required.
  • Understand and ensure design follows all applicable laws, meet customer specifications and safety requirements.
  • Maintain an acceptable performance on Engineering Change Request (ECR) processing and backlog.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of engineering computer aided tools and general capabilities to improve the Engineering department performance.
  • Perform mathematical calculations for design including stability and load calculation.
