About The Position

This position is for an Instructional Paraprofessional in a Head Start program with multiple sites, specifically in Kokomo (Darrough Chapel) and Peru (South Peru Elementary). The role involves 37.5 hours per week for 186 days (9.5 months) and offers an hourly rate of $12.53. The primary focus is to support the Head Start teacher in daily classroom activities, working with preschool students individually and in small groups, providing remediation, and fostering overall student growth in social, emotional, and kindergarten readiness skills. Responsibilities also include assisting with meal service, monitoring students on the bus, attending mandatory training, and adhering to Head Start performance standards and licensing requirements. The applicant must be able to collaborate effectively with school staff and students of all ages and complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

Mandatory FBI fingerprinting background check and other HS requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Have or be willing to obtain a Childhood Development Associate certificate (CDA) or an associates degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or similar field.
Applicant should be able to work well with school staff and students of all ages.

Responsibilities

Assist Head Start teacher in daily classroom activities.
Work one-on-one and in small groups with preschool students.
Provide remediation support for students.
Support the overall student growth in social, emotional, and kindergarten readiness skills.
Assist with serving breakfast, lunch, and snack daily.
Monitor students on the bus as needed.
Attend Head Start mandatory training, follow Head Start performance standards and all requirements for state early childhood and Head Start licensing.
Complete other duties as requested.
