About The Position

This advertisement will be filling one position in the Office of Inspector (OIG) General Professional Standards Unit. It is a full-time position that will conduct complex investigations from various origins including but not limited to, internal investigations of complaints against FDLE members.

Requirements

  • Five years of sworn law enforcement or sworn investigative experience, one of which must have been in the capacity of a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of three years of the required experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize legal, acceptable and effective investigative techniques;
  • Knowledge and understanding of law, criminal and administrative procedure applicable to general and internal investigations;
  • Knowledge and understanding of 112.532, F.S., Officer’s Bill of Rights;
  • Knowledge and understanding of 112.3187, F.S., Whistle-blower’s Act;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the government structure for the State of Florida;
  • Ability to comprehend and retain critical facts;
  • Ability to verbally communicate results/progress of investigative activity in an effective and efficient manner;
  • Ability to establish investigative goals and objectives;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and implement necessary steps to accomplish such goals and objectives; and
  • Skill in oral and written reporting and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Special Agent Trainee or a Probationary Special Agent does not count toward the one year of Special Agent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting complex investigations from various origins including but not limited to, Office of the Governor, Chief Inspector General’s Office and internal investigations of complaints against departmental employees;
  • Resolving various complaints made to FDLE which are not immediately subject to investigation by the Office of Inspector General, maintains required levels for sworn members and maintains proper control of assigned departmental property; and
  • Conducting complex criminal investigations involving fraud against the department.
