About The Position

The Inspector will promote a safe working environment and adhere to all Silgan safety policies and procedures. This role is responsible for ensuring finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying defects. Critical defects are those likely to cause package failure or unsafe conditions, major defects may cause handling or performance issues, and minor defects are aesthetically objectionable. The Inspector will alert Operators to defects, verify packaging parameters against specifications, and perform any necessary rework safely. Additionally, the Inspector will maintain a clean work area, assist with housekeeping duties, and support the Operator and Maintenance departments during line downtime or planned maintenance. This role requires effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment through sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties, all in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Ensure finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations.
Identify and classify typical defects, including critical, major, and minor defects.
Alert the Operator to all defects for timely addressing.
Verify packaging parameters against the specifications sheet.
Safely perform any required rework.
Perform housekeeping duties and keep the work area clean.
Clean the entire line area when a line goes down.
Promote a "teamwork" atmosphere by assisting with housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, and performing rework.
Safely assist the Operator in grinding bottles during machine startup.
Clear jams on the downstream equipment.
Perform housekeeping around grinders, downstream equipment, and under takeouts.
Safely assist the Maintenance department through housekeeping on and around machines during planned maintenance.
Evaluate and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
Effectively use verbal and written communications.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Perform sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
