About The Position

A leading university is seeking an Inspector to assess room conditions, identify damages, and support maintenance readiness following student move-out. This role ensures spaces are properly prepared for incoming residents by coordinating inspections, documentation, repair workflows, and operational readiness activities while supporting housing operations and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience conducting inspections, documenting findings, and coordinating maintenance, custodial, or facility-related tasks.
  • Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and work autonomously.
  • Strong computer and technology skills with experience using software systems for reporting, documentation, and work order management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow policies, procedures, and operational safety standards.
  • Ability to work varying schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends based on operational needs.
  • CA Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed room and facility inspections to assess conditions, identify damages, safety concerns, missing furniture/items, and maintenance needs at the direction of the Housing Building Manager.
  • Collaborate with custodial teams and Housing Building Managers to identify cleanliness, maintenance, and safety deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and ensure spaces meet move-in readiness standards.
  • Create and manage corrective work orders for maintenance issues, monitor vendor work progress, verify completed repairs and custodial cleaning, and support inventory counts and fixture verification activities.
  • Document findings, generate reports, maintain accountability for keys and assigned assets, and prepare preliminary damage billing assessments using photos, forms, and established resource documentation.
  • Support operational and facility-related projects, including custodial closet and lofting room inspections, adherence to R&DE Student Housing Operations safety protocols, and coordination with the university colleagues, students, and external vendors.
