About The Position

STV is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Transportation Northeast department in Hartford, CT. This role involves inspecting construction activities related to highway/bridges, facilities/buildings, or rail/transit projects. The inspector will ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and verifying contractor submissions. A key part of the role is to identify and document nonconforming work and ensure timely corrective action. The inspector will also review project documentation, including RFIs, submittents, daily reports, and change orders, and complete daily work reports with photographs and progress documentation. Additionally, the role requires tracking and documenting quantities of work performed by the contractor, resolving construction problems and challenges in the field, and communicating effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and agency representatives, to facilitate project success.

Requirements

  • NICET Level 1 with 4 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection.
  • Experience on transportation infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CTDOT CEI processes, contract administration, and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
  • Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site as needed.

  • NETTCP – Concrete Inspector certification
  • ACI – Concrete Certification
  • NETTCP – HMA Paving Inspector certification
  • NACE, AMP, or BCI – Coating Inspector certification
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certification
