About The Position

The Inspection Technician is a developmental role composed to build expertise in non-destructive testing (NDT) through a structured progression program. Starting as a Tech 1, the successful candidate will advance through training, certifications, hands-on experience, and competency assessments to achieve higher technician levels. This position supports the inspection of fixed equipment and piping systems using advanced NDT technologies, including ultrasonic testing, automated ultrasonic testing, thermography, and drone-based inspection methods, helping ensure the safe and reliable operation of site assets.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Documented and traceable experience in NDT Methods (UT, UTPA, PAUT, CR, DR, IR, Thermography, etc.)
  • Level 2 Limited Ultrasonic Thickness Certification (SNT-TC-1A equivalent)
  • Continued employment in this role is contingent upon satisfactory progression through required training, certifications, competency demonstrations, field experience achievements, and performance expectations within established timelines.
  • Demonstrated interest and proficiency in nondestructive testing, mechanical integrity, fixed equipment inspection, or related technical field.
  • Ability to complete required NDT classroom training, practical experience hours, written exams, practical exams, and certification requirements in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ability to work under the direction of qualified technicians, inspectors, engineers, and supervision while developing independent technical competency.
  • Willingness to maintain training records, certification documentation, inspection reports, and other required program documentation.
  • Familiar with relevant refining industry practices, codes, and standards particularly those related to API and ASME inspection criteria
  • Strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Part 107 Pilot’s License, a Level II Ultrasonic Certification and a Level II Thermography Certification

  • Preferred candidate will have prior NDT experience in a refining or manufacturing environment, with current or previous certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect process equipment and piping using appropriate NDT methods.
  • Perform inspections per scheduled activities to ensure compliance.
  • Analyze field data from completed inspections.
  • Assemble and clearly report inspection activities and results to key stakeholders.
  • Perform routine maintenance of NDT equipment when practical (replace cables, clean lens, etc.).
  • Work scope may include monitoring process changes such as level or flow and communicating results to assist Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, or Inspectors in understanding these processes in a real time environment.
