About The Position

Shenandoah Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is seeking a dependable individual with great attention to detail to join their assembly team as an Inside Upholsterer in their Valdese, NC location. This role involves assembling parts according to style specifications, using measurements, gauges, and guides to ensure proper fitment of frame and cover. The Upholsterer will inspect their work before moving to the next piece, use proper PPE (safety glasses), and maintain good housekeeping practices. Key tasks include pushing furniture frames to workstations, lifting frames onto tabletops, applying poly using glue and a staple gun, applying covers using hands and a staple gun, and lowering frames to the ground.

Requirements

• Able to perform repetitive tasks such as bend, lift, twist, kneel and reach for extended periods of time.
• Able to stand and walk for 100% of shift.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks using staple guns, pushing and pulling fabric.
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds of weight from floor level to waist height tabletop up to 15 times per shift with buddy lift system or hydraulic table lift.

Responsibilities

• Assembles parts according to style specifications.
• Uses measurements, gauges and guides to ensure proper fitment of frame and cover.
• Inspects work before moving on to next piece.
• Use proper PPE – safety glasses.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices to prevent slips, trips and falls.
• Push furniture frame to workstation, Lift frame onto tabletop, apply poly using glue and staple gun, apply cover using hands and staple gun, and then lower frame onto ground.
