About The Position

Carotek, a SunSource company, is seeking an energetic, self-driven, and technically inclined individual to join their Inside Sales team in North Chesterfield, VA. This role will primarily focus on the Instrumentation Product lines, providing outstanding service to customers and support to the outside sales staff. The position involves technical discussions, product selection and specification, quotation preparation, and resolving customer inquiries regarding orders and technical issues.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school (Bachelor's degree preferred); or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to convert standard measurement to metric.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies, gauges, instrumentation, and/or a very strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and general business correspondence.
  • Working knowledge of Prophet 21.

Responsibilities

  • Providing outstanding service to customers and support to outside sales staff.
  • Working primarily with Instrumentation Product lines.
  • Answering telephone calls or responding to customer correspondence regarding technical questions on products or systems.
  • Engaging in technical discussions to identify correct products and advising customers on substitutions or modifications.
  • Selecting and specifying products based on customer application and design prerequisites.
  • Conferring with service technicians, service managers, or manufacturers to resolve technical problems.
  • Supplying detailed product quotations by computing price, discount, and shipping charges.
  • Informing customers of pricing, back orders, delivery, delayed shipments, and providing tracking information.
  • Obtaining purchase order numbers and/or credit card information from customers.
  • Conferring with Accounting to resolve invoicing or credit discrepancies.
  • Attending sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on technical developments.
