About The Position

Builders FirstSource is America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components, and building services to the professional market. The Inside Sales Manager directs the operation of all aspects of inside (contractor) sales. This role is responsible for determining staffing needs to maximize sales and profit objectives, as well as all other managerial duties. The position ensures that inside sales processes, practices, and personnel provide the required level of customer support and works closely with the Sales Manager to ensure inside and outside sales personnel work as a team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management or related field and four (4) years retail sales experience and/or management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of company products, services, production processes and product standards
  • Understanding of company policies and procedures relating to sales and customer service
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive customer information
  • Working knowledge of building industry and retail management
  • Ability to think strategically and to forecast and drive sales
  • Excellent customer services skills and sales experience
  • Ability to supervise and achieve work productivity through others
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Proficiency in Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer support to walk-in retail or contractor customers and responds to telephone and e-mail inquiries from customers, typically assisting those with larger or more complex requirements.
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge and experience to assist customers with issues such as product selection, pricing, availability, refunds/exchanges.
  • Determines customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and services, and may recommend alternative products based on cost, availability, or specifications.
  • Generates sales quotations requiring a working knowledge of company products, procedures, and practices.
  • Actively engages in selling company products and services.
  • Provides material take-offs, estimates, and pricing of large packages (e.g., decks, garages, millwork, kitchen, bath, doors, etc.).
  • Enters orders into the computer system.
  • May provide support to Outside Sales Representatives and may accompany them to customer sites or meetings.
  • Schedules the production and delivery of orders with store operations.
  • Uses customer calls as opportunities to provide information about features and benefits of company products and services.
  • Engages in researching, identifying, and soliciting new customers and expanding business with current customers.
  • Troubleshoots order processing issues to ensure customer satisfaction and optimize sales opportunities.
  • Identifies trends in customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
  • May participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
  • Provides assistance and training to less experienced Inside Sales Representatives.
  • May have responsibility for ongoing supervision of the Inside Sales Department.
  • May assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and other related activities.
  • Plans and paces own work efficiency to meet daily, weekly, project, or team-related productivity goals.
  • Remains current on customer preferences, changes in local codes, and product developments by attending in-house training, vendor training, or reading trade journals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or coworkers.
  • Attends periodic safety meetings as required.
  • May recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.
