About The Position

GCG’s Connectivity & Power Solutions division is looking for an Inside Sales Business Development Representative to help us identify, pursue, and develop new business across rail / transit and battery markets. As our Business Development Rep, you’ll focus finding opportunities: researching prospective customers, reaching out to new and inactive accounts, following up on warm leads, uncovering projects, and identifying RFQs and RFPs that GCG is positioned to pursue. You’ll work closely with experienced sales leaders, market experts, and product specialists who can help you grow your knowledge of our products and their applications while you build relationships and develop your own customer portfolio. As those relationships grow, the position can expand into ongoing account ownership. If you enjoy the challenge of finding new business but also have the patience and attention to detail to work through quotes, proposals, and longer sales cycles, this could be a strong next step in your B2B sales career! Following training and onboarding (first 90 days), this role offers a hybrid work arrangement from our office facility located at 101 Kestrel Drive Collegeville, PA, 19426.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of business-to-business sales, business development, inside sales, or comparable customer-facing commercial experience.
  • Previous experience prospecting for new business and confidence initiating conversations with prospective customers through phone, email, and other outreach methods.
  • Working knowledge of the B2B sales process and the persistence required to develop opportunities that may involve multiple contacts and longer sales cycles.
  • Strong research, organization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple prospects, quotes, opportunities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with customers and internal partners.
  • Attention to detail when reviewing customer requirements, specifications, proposal documents, and other information used to support quoting and new-business opportunities.
  • Willingness to learn technical products, applications, markets, systems, and new tools as part of your continued development.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous B2B sales or business-development experience within industrial distribution, manufacturing, electrical products, wire and cable, or a related industry.
  • Experience working with OEMs, distributors, industrial customers, rail or transit organizations, or project-based customers.
  • Experience identifying or responding to RFQs, RFPs, bid opportunities, or other formal customer requests.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform to manage prospecting and sales activity.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new business through outbound calling, targeted outreach, warm leads, inactive customer accounts, internal data, and independent market research.
  • Research prospective customers, projects, and market activity to identify new opportunities for GCG’s products, services, and capabilities.
  • Develop relationships with prospective customers and uncover business needs that may lead to quoting, project, or longer-term sales opportunities.
  • Review RFQs, RFPs, bid portals, and other sources for relevant opportunities and conduct initial research to help determine which opportunities GCG should pursue.
  • Coordinate with sales leaders, product specialists, and other internal partners to gather information needed to develop accurate quotes and proposals.
  • Track proposal requirements, specifications, documentation, deadlines, submission instructions, and other details to help ensure opportunities are pursued accurately and on time.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects and opportunities throughout sales cycles that may range from relatively straightforward transactions to longer-term projects.
  • Maintain accurate prospecting, customer, pipeline, and opportunity activity in Salesforce or other company systems.
  • Develop your knowledge of GCG’s products, services, customers, and target markets through structured training and close collaboration with experienced team members.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, or other market-development activities as needed, with expected travel of approximately 10% to 15%.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary and commissions plan
  • Excellent health, vision, dental, short and long-term disability, and life insurance benefits
  • Monthly stipends for travel expenses
  • PTO plan with company paid holidays (7)
  • 401K with employer contribution
  • Corporate support resources including computer equipment, inside sales, and customer service assistance
