About The Position

The Inside / Outside Sales Representative is a high energy, relationship driven role with a strong focus on acquiring new customers and expanding Madsen’s presence across a North American territory, primarily within the United States. This position blends in office collaboration with field based sales activity and is ideal for a charismatic self starter who enjoys opening doors, building trust, and turning opportunities into long term partnerships. Based out of the Orland office during training and on non travel days, this role becomes increasingly field focused once training is complete, with regular overnight travel 2 to 3 days per week. The Sales Representative works closely with engineering, purchasing, and front office teams to bring customer ideas to life, delivering high quality wire products that meet both functional and commercial needs. Success in this role comes from strong communication, responsiveness, curiosity, and the drive to grow new business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience in industrial or manufacturing sales
  • 3 plus years of B2B sales experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineered products environment
  • Proven experience selling custom or made to order products, not purely catalog or transactional sales
  • Demonstrated success prospecting and developing new accounts within industrial or commercial markets
  • Ability to understand customer applications, specifications, and performance requirements and translate them into manufacturable solutions
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering and Purchasing to develop quotes, specifications, and competitive pricing
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and lead time considerations, wire, metal, or fabricated products preferred
  • Comfortable conducting plant tours, site visits, and technical sales conversations in manufacturing environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly with overnight stays approximately 2 to 3 days per week following training
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills with the ability to manage a multi state sales territory
  • Experience using CRM systems to track opportunities, quotes, and customer activity preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Self directed, results oriented approach with accountability for pipeline development and revenue growth
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong coordination with internal teams
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently throughout the assigned territory

Responsibilities

  • Drive new customer acquisition through inbound web inquiries, cold calling, and proactive outreach
  • Build relationships with prospects and customers through in person meetings, site visits, and virtual presentations
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate wire product solutions
  • Conduct sales calls and overnight travel throughout the assigned North American territory 2 to 3 days per week after training
  • Partner closely with the Engineering team to develop product concepts and build specifications
  • Work with Purchasing to obtain material quotes and support accurate, competitive pricing
  • Coordinate with Front Office staff to support invoicing, sales order entry, and internal reporting
  • Maintain clear, timely communication across departments to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Track sales activity, opportunities, and customer interactions
  • Prepare and deliver sales updates and reports to the General Manager and President
  • Maintain professional, responsive communication via email and online meetings
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 applications Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc. to support daily sales activity
