About The Position

The Inpatient Therapy Rehab Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the pediatric therapies departments. This position involves performing essential maintenance and cleaning routines, assisting with patient transportation, and handling various clerical functions to ensure the smooth operation of the rehabilitation setting. The aide is also responsible for self-development through participation in educational programs and meetings, and for promptly reporting any observed patient issues to clinical staff.

Requirements

  • High School Education
  • 6 months of on the job training to acquire skill competencies
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to perform very heavy lifting - Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily sanitation of PT/OT Gym areas, including mat tables, tables, and therapeutic equipment.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel regarding equipment malfunctioning.
  • Maintains general clinic tidiness.
  • Maintains splint area, ensuring supplies are properly stored and countertops are clear. Refills water levels if requested.
  • Disinfects equipment and therapy supplies as directed by licensed staff or rehab aide II.
  • Delivers and picks up equipment/therapy supplies for disinfection per request (e.g., from specialty clinics or group therapy).
  • Stores, maintains, and requests additional disinfectant according to hospital specifications.
  • Sets up and cleans up therapy rooms for specific procedures.
  • Performs transporting duties as requested, including wheelchair, cart, and various life support equipment, meeting an assigned schedule.
  • Delivers supplies and equipment to patient's rooms (OP and IP).
  • Completes errands throughout the hospital as assigned.
  • Sorts and distributes mail and reports to appropriate staff.
  • Distributes office supplies and therapy materials upon delivery.
  • Accepts, verifies, and puts away supplies when delivered.
  • Maintains department supplies/materials as identified by therapy manager/therapists/rehab aide II (art boxes, color paper etc.).
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of soft charts.
  • Copies forms, reports, and records.
  • Performs other clerical duties as back up or assigned.
  • Faxes documents according to Hospital policy.
  • Participates in hospital/facility activities, including inservices and educational programs.
  • Actively works towards completion of individual and related departmental goals.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and inter/intradepartmental team meetings.
  • Provides information regarding observed patient problem(s)/need and immediately notifies appropriate clinical staff.
