About The Position

The staff nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who provides direct nursing care to an assigned patient population, service line, or clinic department. Using the nursing process, the nurse plans and delivers effective patient care within the scope of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and in alignment with Driscoll Health System’s vision and mission of excellence and integrated care delivery. The nurse practices according to established standards of practice, ethical guidelines, policies, and guidelines reflecting the American Nurses Association and the relevant specialty service line. The nurse completes assigned duties and maintains current competence in the skills and nursing practice required for the primary work assignment. The job description is not all-inclusive; other reasonably related duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or hospital administration.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
• Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Applicants may onboard with AHA or Red Cross CPR and transition to AHA upon first renewal.
• Complete and continuously maintain Advanced Specialty Courses according to Attachment A and its specified timeframes.
• Attempt national specialty certification within four years of hire if eligible, and maintain it thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
