The Inpatient Services Registered Nurse (RN) CAP 1 is an entry-level designation in the Clinical Advancement Program. The RN is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care—including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for an assigned group of patients. The role may include delegating appropriate tasks to direct patient-care staff, including RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the kidney disease health care team, the RN participates in clinical decision-making, patient and family teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that support patient outcomes and program operations. The RN performs duties under the direction of the Supervisor, with guidance from an Educator or Preceptor or in collaboration with another RN, and in accordance with company policies, nursing practice standards, service agreements, and applicable regulations. The position includes direct inpatient dialysis care and may require work at other locations or assistance at an outpatient facility as needed. The RN may take on designated Nurse in Charge oversight after meeting specified training and experience requirements. The work takes place in a health care facility with controlled air temperature and moderate noise. It involves direct patient care, frequent and prolonged standing, bending, heavy lifting and patient movement, and possible exposure to infectious or contagious materials. The RN also performs desk and computer work, interacts with patients and health care personnel, travels between assigned facilities and to training or meeting sites, and participates in an on-call rotation. Night, weekend, or holiday work may be required based on program needs.
