About The Position

The Inpatient Psych Registered Nurse monitors the unit for patient and staff safety and provides quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders. The nurse supports the hospital and program philosophy of care and ensures each patient’s safety, well-being, and appropriate care. The position works the 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. shift and requires COVID vaccination. Requirements

Associate degree in nursing (ADN).
Current California RN license.
Current CPR and CPI credentials, or obtain them within 30 days of hire.
Sound leadership skills and ability to organize shift activities and schedules.
Consistently high-quality clinical and interpersonal skills to serve as a role model.
Basic knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions for acute psychosis and non-violent crisis intervention.
Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology relevant to adolescent psychiatric populations and ability to apply this knowledge to adolescent or adult care.
Knowledge of medical terminology, especially terminology associated with adolescent or adult psychiatric care.
Thorough familiarity with psychopharmacy and psychotropic medications used with adolescent or adult psychiatric populations.
Problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
Crisis-intervention skills.
Written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor the unit for patient and staff safety.

Organize activities and schedules for medical and non-medical tasks during the shift.
Facilitate and/or co-facilitate process-oriented and didactic groups.
