About The Position
Sentara is hiring a full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. The role works rotating eight-hour evening shifts, typically from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs. The position includes every other weekend and a holiday rotation. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. Pharmacy Technicians provide care delivery and medication dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. The position is based at Sentara Leigh Hospital, a 274-bed acute care facility in Norfolk, Virginia.
Requirements
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
Responsibilities
- Fill and deliver medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
- Triage and escalate questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
- Use appropriate systems to process patient information.
- Maintain quality assurance according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
