About The Position

The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician works at Saint Mary's Hospital and, following prescribed procedures, assists in processing physician prescriptions so medications are filled promptly, accurately, and safely. The technician prepares medications and prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, helps answer patient questions, and maintains records related to drug use and charges. This is a full-time position with 36-hour rotating shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Connecticut registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Previous experience is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

• National PTCB certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

Responsibilities

• Use the pharmacy computer system to input, retrieve, and analyze data.
• Prepare prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
• Prepare and prioritize prescriptions according to need.
• Handle cash and maintain cash control while completing daily retail transactions in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Track inventory and assist with daily ordering.
• Assist with patient questions and service.
• Maintain records related to drug use and charges.
