This full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I position is located at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center and operates on the 2nd shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM). The role involves assisting licensed pharmacists with technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution, including handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances. Responsibilities also include medication distribution, phone screening, pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and documentation. The technician will perform nonsterile compounding and potentially sterile IV admixture following USP standards and aseptic technique. They will also inspect medication storage areas, complete medication admission histories, and may assist in training other technicians. The role requires adherence to all organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, and supporting area leaders. Additional duties include patient demographic information gathering, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, cashiering, and potentially third-party billing functions. The technician must demonstrate age-appropriate patient care knowledge and skills and may obtain immunization certification to perform immunizations under pharmacist supervision. Operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication delivery may also be required.
