Assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications. This role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The technician will also assist with medication distribution, screen phone calls, manage pharmacy procurement and inventory, and perform various compounding and admixture tasks according to USP standards. Additionally, the role includes inspecting medication storage areas, completing medication admission histories, and undertaking other assigned duties to support departmental excellence and training initiatives. The position also involves data entry for record-keeping, insurance verification, label generation, and potentially cashiering and third-party billing functions. A key aspect is demonstrating competence in providing age-appropriate patient care and potentially performing immunizations under supervision. The role may also require operating a vehicle to deliver medications and supplies.
