Inpatient Pharmacy Tech
About The Position
The Inpatient Pharmacy Tech assists the Pharmacist, under the Pharmacist’s supervision, in the daily operation of the Pharmacy. The posting also describes pharmacy technician duties in retail areas, including assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and distribution, processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing customer service. It characterizes the role as an entry-level position that can serve as a stepping stone to more advanced pharmacy technician roles. The position is full time and follows a 7-on/7-off night schedule. Shifts are 7:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m. or 8:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m., with work weeks beginning on Thursdays. It is based at Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.
Requirements
- PTCB certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire; this requirement may be waived for current pharmacy students enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration is required if required by state regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Graduation from an ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred.
- 340B program experience preferred if at a 340B facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist, under the Pharmacist’s supervision, in the daily operation of the Pharmacy.
- In retail areas, assist pharmacists with the preparation and distribution of medications.
- Process prescriptions, manage inventory, and provide customer service in retail areas.
