About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 1 works under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and follows standard procedures to assist with dispensing and transporting medications. This entry-level position learns non-sterile and/or sterile compounding and maintains required documentation and records. The role works in sterile and non-sterile spaces, preparing and delivering medications and refilling Pyxis machines.

The schedule includes one weeknight evening shift per week from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., every other weekend, and two holidays per year. The position is at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, which provides inpatient and outpatient care across more than 50 specialty areas and offers education, wellness, and injury-prevention programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.
• State Board of Pharmacy registration.
• Maintain required documentation and records.
• Work one weeknight evening per week from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., every other weekend, and two holidays per year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality assurance standards and required documentation, and maintain regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assist with medication orders, including workflow management, basic preparation and dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Use automated and electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Support inventory activities, including storage, ordering, rotating stock, beyond-use dating, and cleanliness.
• Prepare and deliver medications and refill Pyxis machines.
