About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a nurse practitioner or physician assistant for its new residential treatment facility in Norfolk, Virginia. The role provides medical care to clients throughout treatment, including developing individual treatment plans, monitoring and stabilizing patients, and managing medications. The position collaborates with medical, clinical, and utilization review teams to coordinate care and maintains thorough documentation of medical interventions, consultations, and directives. It also involves completing daily and weekly client appointment schedules efficiently.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a medical field and related certifications.
• Valid state medical license (PMHNP, FNP, or PA-C).
• Federal DEA certification.
• Acute observational and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and multitasking skills.

Nice To Haves

• Three to five years of experience in a related clinical setting, such as substance use disorder, psychiatry, or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Create individual medical care treatment plans and provide medical monitoring and medication management for each client throughout treatment.
• Provide quality medical care to stabilize patients and enable them to fully engage in treatment.
• Update pharmacy orders; create UDS, medication, and lab orders; and review and address UDS and lab results.
• Collaborate with extended medical, clinical, and utilization review teams to coordinate care.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical interventions, consultations, and directives.
• Complete daily and weekly client appointment schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
