About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant for its inpatient detox and residential treatment facility in Norfolk, Virginia. The role provides medical care and monitoring to clients receiving substance use treatment, including medication management, treatment planning, ordering and reviewing tests, and coordinating care with medical and clinical teams. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a medical field and related certifications.
• Valid state medical license (PMHNP, FNP, or PA-C).
• Federal DEA certification.
• Acute observational and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and multitasking skills.

Nice To Haves

• Three to five years of experience in a related clinical setting, such as substance use disorder, psychiatry, or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Create individual medical care treatment plans and provide medical monitoring and medication management for each client throughout treatment.
• Provide medical care to stabilize patients and help them fully engage in treatment.
• Update pharmacy orders and create UDS, medication, and laboratory orders; review and address UDS and laboratory results.
• Collaborate with extended medical, clinical, and utilization review teams to coordinate care.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical interventions, consultations, and directives.
• Complete daily and weekly client appointment schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
