About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a nurse practitioner or physician assistant for its new residential treatment facility in Norfolk, Virginia. The role provides medical care and monitoring for clients throughout treatment, helping stabilize patients so they can fully engage in treatment. The clinician develops individualized treatment plans, manages medications and orders, reviews test results, coordinates care with medical, clinical, and utilization review teams, and maintains thorough documentation. The position also includes completing client appointment schedules.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a medical field and related certifications.
• Valid state medical license (PMHNP, FNP, or PA-C).
• Federal DEA certification.
• Acute observational and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong collaborative and multitasking skills.

Nice To Haves

• 3–5 years of experience in a related clinical setting, such as substance use disorder, psychiatry, or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Create individual medical care treatment plans and provide medical monitoring and medication management for each client throughout treatment.
• Provide quality medical care to stabilize patients and enable them to fully engage in treatment.
• Update pharmacy orders and create UDS, medication, and laboratory orders.
• Review and address UDS and laboratory results.
• Collaborate with extended medical, clinical, and utilization review teams to coordinate care.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical interventions, consultations, and directives.
• Complete daily and weekly client appointment schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
