About The Position

This role involves assisting in the Inorganic Chemistry lab, ensuring students understand procedures, assignments, and proper lab techniques. The TA will support the laboratory instructor, uphold safety standards, and guide students through problem-solving without directly providing answers. Responsibilities also include managing equipment return and ensuring work areas are clean at the end of each lab session.

Requirements

Successfully completed one year of CHEM 260/261.

Responsibilities

Prepare for laboratory meetings by understanding the laboratory manual and experimental procedures.
Familiarize yourself with pre-lab assignments to assist students with questions.
Consult with the instructor if difficulties arise with understanding procedures or assignments.
Arrive on time and be prepared to perform duties.
Assist the laboratory instructor with duties related to lab delivery.
Complete laboratory safety training.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, including wearing goggles and appropriate clothing.
Circulate among students to assist with questions and guide their problem-solving process.
Observe students' techniques and correct any poor practices.
Ensure students return common equipment to the proper location.
Ensure students clean up their work areas at the end of the lab session.
