About The Position

This role is for a Student Worker in the Biochemistry Lab, serving as a Teaching Assistant (TA). The primary objective is to assist in the Biochemistry lab, supporting both the instructor and students. The position requires a commitment of 3 hours per week and is a temporary, part-time role for the Fall 2026 academic term only.

Requirements

Successfully completed one year of CHEM 340/342 before applying.
Currently authorized to work in the United States.
Commitment of 3 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Prepare for laboratory meetings by thoroughly understanding the laboratory manual and experimental procedures.
Familiarize yourself with pre-lab assignments to assist students with their questions.
Seek clarification from the instructor before lab if any difficulties arise with understanding the material or assignments.
Arrive on time to fulfill all assigned duties.
Assist the laboratory instructor with tasks directly related to the delivery of the lab session.
Undergo and complete laboratory safety training.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, including wearing goggles and appropriate clothing.
Circulate among students during the lab section, providing assistance with questions and observing/correcting student technique.
Guide students towards understanding and problem-solving rather than providing direct answers.
Ensure students return common equipment to its proper location at the end of the lab.
Ensure students clean their work areas at the end of the lab session.
