Innovation Project Leader

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

The Innovation Project Leader leads the design and development of innovative batteries to achieve targeted battery-pack performance while maintaining safety and meeting agreed project plans. The role assesses disruptive cell electrochemistry technologies for automotive applications and coordinates cross-functional teams, internal facilities, and external partners, including academics, startups, cell manufacturers, and material providers. The position leads projects through technology readiness level (TRL) gates and milestones, evaluates battery-pack performance, cost, stationary operation, and life-cycle impacts, and builds and communicates medium- and long-term roadmaps for cell electrochemistry technologies and designs. It also develops and shares methods and models, synthesizes functional and dysfunctional battery-pack designs, and delivers technical assessments, requirements, cost analyses, activity reports, and partnership and facilities-upgrade plans. The role works with technical teams, expertise networks, project stakeholders, and partners to validate results and share tools, models, and methods. It requires a bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry Engineering and at least eight years of experience in battery energy storage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of work experience in the battery energy storage area.
  • Knowledge of battery-pack design, electrochemistry, thermal management, battery cells, and electrical energy storage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working in cross-functional and multicultural teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry.
  • Proven experience in electrochemistry.
  • Experience with current and/or advanced cell technologies.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and direction during supplier technical reviews.
  • Proven experience in team leadership or project management.

Responsibilities
