About The Position

This role is more akin to being the person who makes a house feel like home, welcoming guests as if they are staying at a friend's beautiful historic home. Responsibilities include making breakfast, baking pastries, maintaining order, and possessing thorough knowledge of the local area to provide recommendations. The inn utilizes effective systems and clear processes to ensure a calm and organized workday. This position is not a sedentary desk job.

Requirements

  • Available for daytime shifts including most weekends and some holidays
  • Reliable transportation to Greenwich, CT
  • Comfortable standing, moving, and lifting up to 50 lbs throughout a shift
  • Able to climb stairs — historic property, no elevator
  • This is a non-smoking property
  • Customer-facing or service experience preferred; hospitality background not required

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage guests from arrival through departure
  • Prepare and serve breakfast each morning
  • Bake pastries and baked goods for breakfast, afternoon tea, and the lounge; assist with tea service when scheduled
  • Cover lounge food orders (snacks, boards, light bites) during opening hours and on days when the bartender is not scheduled
  • Inspect guest rooms before check-in and after housekeeping
  • Manage reservations and communicate with guests by phone, text, and email — including outbound calls to guests who haven’t stayed with us before
  • Coordinate with the housekeeping and maintenance teams on room readiness and upkeep
  • Keep the breakfast room, front desk, and lounge clean and welcoming throughout your shift
