About The Position

The Injection Molding Utility Technician will be responsible for keeping Injection Molding lines properly stocked with material, handling color changes and breaking out Packers. This role involves inspecting and packaging inventory, requesting supplies, performing line walks to refill color and resin, and executing complete color changes according to procedures. The technician will also assist in clean-up, shutdown, and start-up of lines, maintain good housekeeping and safety practices, and keep the color area organized. Coordination with the Injection Molding shift lead or Supervisor is crucial for color changes and managing non-returnable colors. The role may also include assisting Packers during breaks and operating a forklift for material handling.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Flexible to work any shift.
  • Ability to work overtime or fill in for call-ins when necessary.
  • Be in good standing.
  • Be able to use e-mail and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be forklift certified or become forklift certified within 30 days of being in role.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Visual aptitude – must be able to see with or without correction and be able to differentiate colors.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
  • Proper use of PPE is required at all times.
  • Ability to perform standing job for 12 consecutive hours.
  • Remain stationary extended periods of time.
  • Move around production floor.
  • Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 pounds.
  • Identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 12-hour period.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous packer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and package in-process inventory and/or finished goods.
  • Request supplies, boxes, etc. as needed to supply all Injection Molding lines.
  • Perform line walks and refill color and resin where needed.
  • Perform complete color changes by following all the procedures.
  • Assist in clean-up, shutdown, and start-up of all lines.
  • Comply with good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Keep color area organized and consolidate colors when applicable.
  • Coordinate with Injection Molding shift lead and/or Supervisor with color changes and color that will not return to the racks.
  • Assist in relieving breaks for Packers when necessary.
  • Operate a forklift for removal of scrap bins and/or gaylords during their shift.
  • Print labels and work orders for changeovers.
  • Update the color change calculator at the beginning of shift.
