About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring all materials are transported and/or unloaded in a timely manner as well as running the computer to route ingredients while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The department requires the ability to work in and be exposed to outside temperatures and environment. The role may involve lifting in excess of 80 lbs., operating heavy equipment, and climbing stairs on a routine basis. Specific duties include filing alphabetically and numerically, operating live haul scales and keeping the scale area clean, and communicating professionally both orally and in writing. Maintaining a clean work and break area is essential. The role also requires the ability to compute grower weights and head counts, and to train and operate a Rail Mover Operator.

Requirements

  • Must have 6 months continuous work history with a single employer within the last 12 months.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Max of two previous Tyson employments to be considered for hire.
  • 180 days (6 months) waiting period.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars by following established procedures and/or specifications.
  • Ability to coordinate activities such as switching cars from one track to another, coupling railcars together, and/or clearances.
  • Ability to handle switches and hand brakes in accordance with company programs.
  • Ability to walk the length of the track to monitor track conditions and report any irregularities to management.
  • Ability to accurately record data.
  • Ability to operate scales and document incoming ingredients through the ticketing system.
  • Ability to operate equipment to unload feed ingredients and route to appropriate storage silo.
  • Ability to obtain and run quality analysis on required incoming ingredients.
  • Ability to lift and use hand tools to assist in unloading of ingredients.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance duties using hand tools.
  • Able to work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments. Heavy exposure to ingredient dust and inclement weather.
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as required based on demand scheduling.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas and follow all safety procedures.
  • Able to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity Guildelines including an agreement to avoid any avian species.
  • Maintain good housekeeping including service areas.
  • Communicate to all levels of Operations including Customers and Vendors both orally and in writing where required.
  • Follow and Operate within all Tyson Health and Safety protocols.
  • Able to Lift up to 60 lbs. and/or up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Stand, Sit, Walk, Climb Ladder/Stairs with the ability to sustain physical activity throughout the day.
  • Complete all other tasks assigned by management.
