About The Position

The Ingredient Receiver Rail Operator is responsible for operating a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars, performing functions of the Control Room Panel - Batching operator, and coordinating activities such as switching cars, coupling railcars, and ensuring clearances. This role involves handling switches and hand brakes, monitoring track conditions, accurately recording data, operating scales for incoming ingredients, and unloading feed ingredients. The operator will also perform quality analysis on incoming ingredients, assist in unloading with hand tools, and perform minor maintenance. The work environment includes hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold conditions with heavy exposure to ingredient dust and inclement weather. The position requires working holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as needed, working in elevated areas, and adhering to biosecurity guidelines. Maintaining good housekeeping, communicating with operations, customers, and vendors, and following all health and safety protocols are essential. The role involves lifting up to 60 lbs (or up to 100 lbs with assistance) and sustained physical activity including standing, sitting, walking, and climbing ladders/stairs.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to understand labels, read recipes, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.

  • Ability to obtain and run quality analysis on required incoming ingredients.
  • Ability to lift and use hand tools to assist in unloading of ingredients.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance duties using hand tools.
  • Ability to work in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
