The Opportunity At BPA, the Senior Fire Protection Engineer position is an opportunity to build something concrete and lasting. Beyond designing high-performance systems that protect lives and assets, you will actively contribute to structuring, evolving, and promoting Fire Protection expertise across the country. Under the supervision of Julien Rivard, Eng., Director – Fire Protection, you will be at the heart of major projects and strategic initiatives that will shape the future of the practice at BPA. This role will allow you to: Directly participate in the national development of the Fire Protection Center of Expertise, influencing standards, methods, and technical directions. Act as a technical leader and reference, supporting and growing talent. Exert concrete influence on major technical decisions and relationships with strategic clients. Evolve with autonomy and flexibility, with the possibility of being based in Montreal, Longueuil, Laval, or Quebec City.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Engineering.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in fire protection systems.
  • Mastery of French, both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in: AutoCad, Revit, Office 365 Suite
  • Versatility, autonomy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Excellent ability to perform technical analyses, propose innovative solutions, and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, establish priorities, and meet deadlines and fee budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of technicians and engineers and coordinate the efforts of various internal and external stakeholders to carry out projects for multiple sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural, and residential) in fire protection.
  • Perform technical supervision, coordination, verification, and design of various fire protection projects.
  • Ensure client satisfaction throughout the projects.
  • Conduct site surveys of existing installations.
  • Analyze, design, and adapt building-related installations.
  • Develop new systems and improve existing ones.
  • Estimate construction costs budget.
