About The Position

GHD is seeking an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer for its team in Eastern Canada, with strong expertise in hydrology and hydraulics applied to hydroelectric facilities. The position can be located in one of our offices in the greater Montreal or Quebec City area. Experience with dams is a significant asset, and prior experience with Hydro-Québec or other clients in the hydroelectric sector is highly valued. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or any other relevant discipline; a graduate degree in Hydraulics is an asset.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (or in the process of becoming one).
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written.
  • Familiarity with mining water environmental issues and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of applicable calculation methods (hydrological, hydraulic evaluations, floodplains, river flow).
  • Good knowledge of modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, Civ3D, etc.).
  • Experience in project management (for the intermediate engineer).
  • Autonomy, initiative, and ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent skills for working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Short-term mobility for regional travel (occasional inspections and site visits).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with dams is a significant asset.
  • Prior experience with Hydro-Québec or other clients in the hydroelectric sector is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of CADAM 3D and MIKE 21 software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses for the design of hydraulic structures and dams.
  • Participate in dam design reviews from a water resources perspective.
  • Conduct dam break simulations and analyses, and prepare flood maps.
  • Collaborate with and supervise junior engineers in hydrological analysis and water resources design.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Conduct site visits and write statutory inspection reports from a water resources perspective.
  • Participate in the preparation of plans and specifications for the rehabilitation and construction of hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate inclusion and openness in relationships with colleagues and business partners.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
  • Promote the hydrotechnical discipline to internal and external clients.
