About The Position

The Grid Automation business unit is seeking a Senior Project Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of complex HVDC projects and tenders. In this role, you will coordinate global multidisciplinary project teams, serve as the primary technical contact for customers and key stakeholders, and guide engineering activities from project development through testing and commissioning. You will help ensure technical quality, project execution, and delivery within scope and contractual commitments while working on technologies that support the reliability and evolution of modern power systems. This role offers the opportunity to work independently, collaborate across international teams, tackle complex technical challenges, and contribute to projects that play a critical role in the transmission of electrical energy around the world.

Requirements

Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States or Canada.
Academic degree in Engineering, such as Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a similar technical leadership role.
Ability to coordinate engineering activities and manage technical responsibilities across project teams.
Experience supporting customers and stakeholders on technical matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Ability to take ownership of technical deliverables and achieve quality outcomes.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to navigate challenging conversations.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with HVDC technology is considered an advantage.
Additional languages are an asset.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary contact for technical communication with customers throughout project execution.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and ensure engineering work is developed using complete and accurate information.
Guide the development of technical solutions for complex HVDC projects and tenders.
Drive the completion of engineering activities while supporting project schedules, budgets, and contractual commitments.
Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
Prepare project documentation and ensure deliverables are completed within assigned scope and responsibilities.
Support adherence to safety standards and contribute to the mitigation of project risks.
Ensure technical quality and compliance across contracts, engineering documentation, and project deliverables.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
