About The Position

The research engineer will contribute to the development, optimization and standardization of functional assays applied to human beta cells derived from primary tissues or in vitro differentiation. He/she will support the generation of robust and reproducible datasets and participate in the establishment of analytical references and quality monitoring of cell batches within an academic-industrial collaborative environment. This position is part of a translational research project at the interface between cell biology, biotechnology and regenerative medicine at Institut Cochin. The engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team (researchers, post-docs, engineers, industrial partners) and will handle human biological material requiring rigor and adherence to quality procedures. A significant part of the work will concern experimental standardization and inter-operator reproducibility.

Requirements

  • Cell and molecular biology
  • Eukaryotic cell culture (primary or stem cells preferred)
  • Basics of immunology and cell phenotyping
  • Multiparametric analytical methods
  • Laboratory quality practices and traceability
  • Biological data analysis
  • Sterile cell culture techniques
  • Flow cytometry acquisition and analysis
  • Immunostaining and microscopy
  • DNA/RNA/protein extraction and related analyses
  • Organization of complex experiments
  • SOP writing
  • Data analysis software (FlowJo, Prism, R or equivalent appreciated)
  • Strong rigor and organization
  • Teamwork and interdisciplinary communication
  • Progressive autonomy
  • Ability to structure and document results
  • Interest in academic-industrial collaborative environments
  • Hands-on experience in an academic research or biotechnology R&D laboratory
  • Eukaryotic cell culture (ideally human primary or stem cell–derived cells)
  • Flow cytometry and/or quantitative imaging
  • Cellular functional assays (secretion, viability, activation, differentiation…)
  • Work under quality procedures (traceability, lab notebooks, SOPs)
  • Experimental data handling and organization
  • Experience in collaborative multi-user projects appreciated
  • Experience in regulated or industry-interfacing environments is a plus
  • Master’s degree or Engineering degree in biology, biotechnology, cell biology or related field.

  • Experience in advanced cell culture or flow cytometry strongly appreciated
