About The Position

The Infusion Scheduler is responsible for scheduling all appointments according to physician orders, outside testing, and referrals. This role requires a working knowledge of all facets of the position, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. The scheduler will perform other duties and projects as assigned and ensure all actions are in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include scheduling follow-up appointments in OncoEMR, scheduling outside testing, referrals to other physicians, and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians. The role also involves thoroughly explaining outpatient appointments, including location, time, dates, and preparation requirements to patients/family members, and notifying the Financial Counselor of scheduled patients to request referral authorizations. The Infusion Scheduler must comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients’ rights, safety, billing, and collections. Additionally, the role includes assisting in training other AON employees, adhering to all company and departmental policies and procedures, keeping work areas and records neat and orderly, maintaining company equipment, and ensuring the confidentiality of all patient and employee information. The position may require working at any AON location to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High school education required.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in procedure entry with experience in insurance requirements, medical terminology and ICD9 and CPT coding.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Good command of the English language.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities
