About The Position

The Infusion Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality nursing care to patients receiving outpatient infusion and injection therapies at the Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwater HOPD Infusion Center in Flint. The Infusion RN is responsible for patient assessment, vascular access, medication administration, monitoring, patient education, recognition and management of infusion-related reactions, documentation, and coordination of care with providers, pharmacy, and other members of the healthcare team. The Infusion RN functions independently within the RN scope of practice while following physician/provider orders, hospital policies and procedures, medication-specific guidelines, and applicable regulatory and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • An Associate degree from a school of nursing is required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills for safe and effective patient care and documentation.
  • Is aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement.
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious, and committed to precision in work results.
  • Able to coordinate effectively with hospital staff and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Able to work compassionately with patients to deliver the highest level of care.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a multi-site clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous infusion therapy or outpatient clinical experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred or may be required within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe infusion therapy care.
  • Administers IV medications, biologics, monoclonal antibodies, and other specialty infusion therapies according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Initiates and maintains peripheral IV access and accesses vascular access devices such as implanted ports and PICC lines.
  • Monitors patients during infusion therapy for adverse reactions and intervenes appropriately according to clinical protocols.
  • Performs patient assessments before, during, and after infusion treatments.
  • Provides patient education regarding medications, infusion procedures, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Documents patient care, medication administration, infusion details, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintains compliance with infection prevention protocols and medication safety standards.
  • Collaborates with physicians, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  • Assists with clinic workflow, including patient intake, vital signs, and coordination of care.
  • Willing to travel between clinic locations, including Dearborn and Flint, as needed to support patient census and program growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
