About The Position

This is a temporary, full-time opportunity providing LOA coverage for a period of less than six months. The role involves providing timely and accurate pharmaceutical care by preparing, compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medication, IV admixture, and solutions according to Sutter Health policies, state/federal regulations, and The Joint Commission standards. Responsibilities also include assisting with medicine and supplies inventory management and control, maintaining adequate stock levels, checking pricing accuracy, and completing required regulatory documentation. Adherence to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control policies is essential to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, and laminar flow hoods. Employees may handle hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 guidelines.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program OR "Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration"
PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician - California State Board of Pharmacy
1 years recent relevant experience
Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.
Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.

Responsibilities

Prepares, compounds, packages, labels, and dispenses medication, IV admixture and solutions according to Sutter Health policies, state/ federal regulations, and The Joint Commission standards.
Assists with medicine and supplies inventory management and control, including maintaining adequate stock levels, checking accuracy of pricing, and completing required regulatory documentation.
Adheres to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control polices to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, and laminar flow hoods.
Manages, stores, prepares, receives, unpacks, transports, disposes of, or administers drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by NIOSH and in accordance with USP 800 guidelines.
