About The Position

This role involves installing, maintaining, configuring, upgrading, and administering hardware and software independently within server and SAN administration. The position requires specific knowledge to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard procedures. The specialist will devise new approaches to problems, diagnose and resolve customer issues across multiple technology domains, and create and maintain documentation. Responsibilities also include reviewing and monitoring enterprise security systems, responding to alarms and alerts according to policy, interfacing with other platforms from a hardware and software perspective, and providing informal mentorship to peers and lower-level staff.

Requirements

  • 48 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, &/or administering/operating multiple technology domains including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
  • OR completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 30 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, &/or administering/operating multiple technology domains including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 24 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, &/or administering/operating multiple technology domains including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
  • OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
  • Knowledge of Oral & written communication tools & techniques

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, configures, upgrades &/or administers hardware &/or software independently in server administration & SAN administration where technical work requires specific knowledge to evaluate, select, adapt & modify standard procedures
  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered
  • Diagnoses, analyzes & resolves issues for customers across assigned multiple technology domains
  • Creates, organizes, files & maintains documentation
  • Reviews & monitors enterprise security systems
  • Takes appropriate action & responds to alarms/alerts per agency policy & procedure
  • Interfaces with other platforms from a hardware &/or software perspective
  • Answers questions & presents informal mentorship opportunities to peers &/or lower-level staff via conversation, observation or technical documentation
