The City of Olathe is seeking an Infrastructure Inspector (Wastewater Collections) to play a key role in ensuring the proper functioning of important wastewater collections infrastructure. This self-starter role offers opportunities for continuous learning about the collection system and preventing infrastructure failures. A typical day involves routine preparation, using technical CCTV equipment to view sewer lines, entering findings into systems like Cartegraph, Wincan, EnerGov, and GIS, assigning follow-up tasks, responding to citizen requests or odor complaints, locating services, and assisting other departments. The Infrastructure Inspector I performs skilled work under general supervision in water and wastewater collection systems to track defects and report asset conditions. They provide quality videos, reports, and condition index scores to determine future rehab and repair projects by supplying condition information to management. This position is part of a two-level career progression.
