Provide assistance with oversight of construction contract administration, supervision/inspection for compliance to contract terms and specifications by contractors working on Public Works projects or utility contractors working on City property or City rights-of-way. Inspect all phases of site construction including potable water, reclaimed water, sewer, paving, grading, drainage, sidewalk, landscaping and all aspects of right-of-way development for compliance with state and city codes and standards and approved plans and specifications. Confer with residents, owners, contractors and engineers concerning installations and corrections to be made when deficiencies are discovered. Review and report on complaints received from any concerned person, group or agency on matters related to construction activities. Collect and evaluate data, prepare reports and designs for field implementation. Perform field evaluations and provide oversight of transportation and utility infrastructure. Act as Department's liaison and resource on matters of construction (including capital improvements and private development). Monitor contractor compliance with safety standards and requirements of OSHA and FDOT. Assist with code enforcement inspections to ensure that commercial properties are being maintained in conformance with the approved site plan. Drive to and from City work sites. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description. Complete required trainings as specified within the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
